Department of Software Engineering

Software Engineering Department was established in 2021 within ERU and will accept its first students in 2022. The graduates will achieve the title of "Software Engineer" at the end of 5 years of undergraduate education. First-year covers English preparation class and the remaining 4 years cover software engineering education. Every year we receive 40 students for training. There are currently 4 assistant professors and 1 research assistant in the software engineering department, and more than 10 professors from the computer engineering department also give some courses in our department. In a short time period, we gradually will broaden the number of academic staff in the department.

ERU software engineering department aims to train its students as individuals ready to work in international environments and global competitive conditions. The basic engineering knowledge, methods, and experience of using software tools required for this are given to our students practically. Thus, we want graduate students with full software engineering qualifications.

The teaching language is 100% English, we attach great importance to the notion that our graduates can use both Turkish and English fluently and comfortably. Engineers usually focus on the technical part of the job. But real-life social activity rewards entrepreneurship, self-confidence, and communication skills more. For this reason, we support the education curriculum with courses to develop career planning, social events, public speaking skills, academic writing skills, entrepreneurship, leadership, and communication skills.

As the Software Engineering Department, we care about our students gaining overseas experience, so we encourage all our students to study abroad for at least 6 months within the scope of the Erasmus+ program. Therefore, the department already has some Erasmus+ Exchange agreements. Agreements with 21 universities have been completed and the signing process of agreements with 5 universities continues. We are currently communicating with some universities and aim to have agreements with 30 different universities across Europe.

The software engineering department benefits from the existing laboratory facilities of the Erciyes University Faculty of Engineering. So that students can put their theoretical knowledge into practice and can develop their practical abilities.
